Hit it LONGER and STRAIGHTER from the tee
I have just read an article in
Today’s Golfer
magazine ( There can only be one word to describe that
“Ooops!” If you are one of them, then it is potentially
costing you shots. If you do it with the driver, then you are
definitely likely
to do it with the irons also. So, what can you do about it? All the tips in
the
article were aimed at hitting more of a draw, but what if you
don’t like
hitting a draw, or the course that you play most often is suited for a
fade? I have a solution! (Read more Click here) Play Better Golf - Use Golf Technology or not?
One
of the world’s best teachers uses nothing more than his eye
when teaching some
of the best golfers in the world. One of his clients is none other than
2007
Open Champion Padraig Harrington. Just in case you do not know who this
is,
Padraig’s coach is none other than Bob Torrance, father of
Sam Torrance the
former, “successful” European Ryder Cup Captain. If
the naked eye is good
enough to teach golfers in the Top 10 in the world, then surely it is
adequate
to teach a mid or high handicapper. There
are two areas where technology is mainly used – Custom
Fitting and Teaching. How to Have More Fun
24th
May 2008 What!
You don’t already have lots of fun on the golf course! Right,
let’s fix that. Rule
No 1: SMILE! Everything is better when you smile. Just look up to the
sky and
smile. Do you feel better straight away? I know that I do. Rule
No 2: Take in the beauty that surrounds you. You are among nature. Look
at the
colours on the trees, the blades of grass, the birds chirping and the
sound of
the ball going in to the hole. Rule
No 3: Be more grateful. Be thankful for every game that you are able to
play. I
have not played very much golf this past year and it has taught me a
very
valuable
lesson. I took golf for granted, but now I am more appreciative of
every game
that I get to play. Rule
No 4: Laugh at your bad shots. As hard as it may seem, but you need to
laugh at
them. You are either going to laugh or cry. I know which I would rather
do. Rule
No 5: Smile at your good shots. Give yourself a pat on the back and
take some
time to savour it. Don’t be in a hurry to get to the next
shot. Savour the
moment and make sure it is deposited in your memory bank. You will need
it
later for when we work on your mental game. It will save you a few
shots. It
took me a while to learn to have fun on the course, but I am enjoying
it a lot
more now. After all, it is just a game, and if you can’t
enjoy it, then you
have to ask yourself why are you playing? I
now feel privileged to be able to play such a great game as golf is and
relish
the time I get to spend on the golf course.
After all, it is your chance to put everything else
to the side and
forget about work for four or five hours (Yes - that does mean
switching off
your phone). Next
time you are on the golf course, just thank the Golf Gods for allowing
you to
play. Be more patient with yourself and allow yourself to make a few
mistakes –
everyone does. Finally
– Keep Smiling!
Ernie Els Training System - Lower Your Scores Guaranteed With Golf's Only Tee-To-Green Training System! Included in the Ernie Els Training System is the Rockroller, Tempotimer, Stimpdimple, and an instructional DVD. The Rockroller gives instant feedback on how a perfect putting stroke should feel. Simply adjust the arm width and height and start rocking. Use the Rockroller at the golf course, at home, or in the office. My putting statistics went from 124th to 5th on the PGA Tour with the Rockroller." Ernie Els Tempotimer - The Tempotimer gives you longer, more accurate shots with every club in your bag! A Perfect Swing must consist of 3 absolutes: 1) Swing Plane: an oblique angle oriented with the angle formed between the ball and the stationary swing center. 2) Tempo: the speed of the swing. 3) Timing: the sequence of motion - the order in which things happen during the swing. "To Improve your distance, accuracy, strength, and consistency, nothing beats the Tempotimer." Ernie Els Stimpdimple - The Stimpdimple is a device used to monitor the speed of the putting stroke. It fits easily on to the shaft of your putter! The Stimpdimple has 2 dimples to rest your golf ball in. One larger dimple (easier) and one smaller dimple (tour size). Start with your ball in the larger dimple and hit a few putts keeping your ball balanced in the dimple through impact. You'll immediately begin building a smoother (no jerking or yipping) putting stroke. Reinforce the proper speed and timing of a perfect putt! Use the Stimpdimple with your favorite putter to maintain consistent speed and lower your scores.
